Vernon Firefighters Charitable Society Cup

On March 9th, the first annual "Vernon Firefighters Charitable Society Cup" was awarded to the top U13 rec team in Vernon. It just so happened to be Training Officer Crawford's (coach) team, which his son Tyson is the captain of, who won it. Congratulations to the team and a big thank you to the Charitable Society for sponsoring this amazing community initiative.

Curtis “Curt” W. Parker, age 56, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away at home on Friday, February 28, 2025. In September 2022, Curt was diagnosed with cancer as a result of repeated exposures to carcinogens throughout the course of his firefighting career. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Abundant Life, 304 SW Persels Rd.
Measles Cases on the Rise – Protect Yourself and Your Family

There has been an increase in measles cases across the U.S., including Florida, with 223 reported cases nationwide so far this year. Measles is one of the most contagious viruses and can spread rapidly, particularly among those who are not vaccinated.

The 10th Annual "BATTLE OF THE BRAVEST" charity hockey game was held on March 23, 2025. The game brings together Fire Fighters from across Broome County, New York. This years event would prove not only to be an exciting game with the Binghamton Team edging out the County Team 7 - 6 in a thrilling finish. This years event raised a record $16,292.
Two Workers Rescued

Feb 25, 2025, four of our Livonia firefighters, assigned to the Western Wayne County Urban Search and Rescue - USAR team, assisted in the rescue of two workers trapped in a trench collapse in Wyandotte. The USAR team is one of the most skilled in the region.

She has recently been diagnosed with Metastatic Uveal (Ocular) Melanoma for the 2nd time. Unfortunately, this time it has spread to other areas of her body. After all she still showing up for work and do her best.

New Cancer Screening Program Aims to Protect Wichita Firefighters

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A new wellness initiative will help local firefighters get yearly cancer screenings and receive preventative care for other job-related health risks. The program, announced Thursday, is called Protect Wichita Firefighters and is a partnership between the Wichita Fire Department and Ascension Via Christi. The Kansas Health Foundation is also supporting the initiative by donating $150,000.
